Over the summer at the always amazing Silverdocs Film Festival I caught a screening of a new synchronized swimming documentary called Men Who Swim. The film is a comedic look at a group of men in Sweden who take up synchronized swimming. Despite the fact that, to me, this movie sometimes feels more like a mockumentary (than a doc), it’s still worth a watch.
Besides, it’ll give you your synchro doc fix until the Sync or Swim DVD is released.
Okay, I’m not gonna lie. I had to Google “Whitney Port.” My best guess was that she was either on the MTV reality show The Hills or on the CW TV show Gossip Girl.
(FYI: She was on The Hills)
While we’re not sure what’s funny, exactly, here’s more about the synchro event Port mentioned in her tweet. There are more synchro pictures on her website as well! Anybody know what team this is?
Perhaps even more delightful than synchro getting some exposure from a reality-lebrity is that in CW’s current promo for Gossip Girl they say the name of our film.
I love love love this cake featuring TLC’s Cake Boss doing a synchro move (it’s a ballet leg, in case you’re curious).
The cake is actually a replica of the TLC Summer ad which features the Cake Boss doing synchro with the U.S. National Team! Here’s a still from the ad (click on the image to watch the video):
Pretty cool, huh? In my opinion, there definitely are not enough cakes featuring synchronized swimming…
My only question about this one is, did the Cake Boss make this one for himself?
