Sadly, I couldn’t make it to the Kansas City Film Festival last week but Becky (who now lives in the area) did a fantastic Q&A at our sold-out screening. And I hear the audience was brimming with SeaSprites!
I just found out that we won the jury award for BEST U.S./INTERNATIONAL FEATURE!!! We even beat out all of the fiction movies and Bill Plympton!!! I’m so excited!!!

8 months agoSync or Swim has been selected to screen at the 2009 Las Vegas International Film Festival!!! Hooray!!! That’s right, a synchro movie, Cirque de Soleil, slots and Cher all in one city!!! Vegas, here we come!

9 months agoSync or Swim has been nominated for a Billie Award for Journalism (Broadcast/Cable/Film) by the Women’s Sports Foundation! This award (named in honor of the great Billie Jean King) honors excellence in media coverage and depictions of women and girls in sport. Finalists are named next week and the winners will be announced at a fancy awards ceremony at the Beverly Hills Hilton on April 1st (which includes a performance by Sir Elton John)! Keep your fingers crossed for us to win a Billie (and to meet the Billie)!

Sync or Swim is officially an award-winning film!!! Sync was awarded The Chris Award Honorable Mention this week from the 56th Columbus International Film + Video Festival. Though the official awards ceremony won’t take place until November 15th, I couldn’t be more thrilled!
The glossy magazine reveals the science secrets of synchronized swimming. My favorite part is when they discuss the impedance of water (3,600 times that of air, if you were wondering) and the “62-decibel offset between sound in the air and that in water.” All of those secrets and more revealed in the nerdiest article about synchro I’ve ever read.
Kudos, Pop Sci, for this brand new spin on synchro!
NY Times lists Sync or Swim as one of “The Best of New York” for August 18th!!
