Daily Camera has synchro split personality.
I’m shocked. Another snarky commentary has surfaced on the internet about how synchro isn’t a “true sport.” The article is written by a “sports columnist” at dailycamera.com named Neill Woelk. He says the following about getting rid of the Olympic “gel-haired synchro freaks:”
Synchronized swimming. I already told you — save the e-mails. Approximately 11 people in the U.S. care about synchro swimming for 47 months out of every four years. We’re all of a sudden supposed to act like it matters for one month?
He suggests that any sport that requires judging should be nixed from the Games. Wow, what a lot of negative energy! Stop hating on synchro, Neill. Seriously, Woelk I wouldn’t cross them…have you seen their abs lately?
He tells the readers not to waste time sending angry emails defending synchronized swimming. I’m guessing he doesn’t really want comments either (scroll down). But I’m sure if you wanted to educate him about the sport, he’d love to hear from you!
But come to think of it, I wonder if dailycamera.com’s own “Out There Guy” Ryan Van Duzer wrote an email to his colleague defending synchro after he swam with the Boulder Aquateens in a recent video segment (below). Come on, Ryan, I bet you think synchro should be an Olympic sport!
